Services is a wrap-around service model which provides active
participation in high level collaboration, coordination and
communication with all partners that serve individuals receiving
supports through Competitive Integrated Employment Services (CIES).
Our goal is to ensure that all resources are leveraged so that all
adults with disabilities can maximize their economic
self-sufficiency through creating and reaching their employment
objectives. Career Counselors follow the guidelines and components
of the Competitive Integrated Employment Services model to support
individuals in stabilizing their employment and reach successful
employment outcomes. They also assist individuals with integrated
employment opportunities specific to individuals in their Career
Plan based on their interests, skills, abilities, and needs. Other
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with MassAbility and Department of Transitional
Assistance to determine individuals employment and/or educational
goals.
- Determine individuals' vocational readiness through the
development of relevant skills including completion of job
applications, resume writing and interview preparation.
- Operate as a representative of Open Sky in meetings with
funders related to work responsibilities and support for
individuals served.
- Assist individuals in accessing and obtaining information about
their benefits such as SSI, SSDI and others. Help individuals
understand how benefits may affect their employment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
- Valid Driver's License, acceptable driving record and reliable
transpiration, required.
- Minimum of two years experience working with individuals with
disabilities (including behavioral health challenges),
required.
- Must be able to thrive working in a fairly independent work
environment.
- Must be willing to become a Certified Employment Specialist
upon hire. Open Sky provides and pays for this certification!
