Job Description:
Senior Researcher - Consumer Goods (The Boston Consulting Group,
Inc. - Boston, Massachusetts): Conduct comprehensive, high-quality
research in a timely and accurate manner and clearly package, articulate and
deliver findings with a focus on Consumer topics such as Consumer Goods,
Retail and Travel and Tourism. Specific duties include: collect,
summarize and synthesize relevant data and information into appropriate,
concise, timely and highly effective outputs; develop strong credibility
based on the delivery of high-quality data and research output to help
meet a variety of challenging business needs; identify practical,
timely and innovative research approaches as appropriate; clarify
request objectives with internal customers ensuring superior customer
service standards throughout all interactions; evaluate data quality;
develop deep expertise in specialized research tools, databases and
sources; provide quality assurance; coordinate research projects for
sub-teams of researchers including assignment and mentorship to more
junior researchers; contribute to building “best in class research
function” by partnering directly with consultants and Practice Areas to
understand knowledge needs; proactively identify knowledge gaps;
suggest improvements in the research process; help develop the overall
service portfolio; and support more complex research products. Requires
a Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science,
Marketing, Economics, or a related field in the social sciences (willing to
accept foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of corporate
research experience within a professional services firm. Specific
skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable
to this section) - must possess the following: (i) research and
database capabilities with a focus on specialized industries and topics
including consumer products, retail, and/or travel & tourism; (ii)
research techniques and business information sources/databases; (iii)
ability to coach and train junior team members and transfer knowledge of
industry topics, research approaches and techniques, databases and
other information resources; (iv) problem solving skills and an
ability to clarify and work through ambiguous research projects; and (v)
effective communication and teaming with colleagues of all cohorts and
levels to explore opportunities for collaboration, new business
opportunities and knowledge transfer. Multiple positions available. Must have
unrestricted authorization to work in U.S. M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 45+
