Rooted in the heritage of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Notre
Dame Health Care (NDHC) is committed to the physical, spiritual,
and emotional care of our residents and patients. As one of
Worcesters largest healthcare organizations employing 420
employees, NDHC provides long term/skilled rehab care, residential
assisted living care, adult/pediatric hospice and palliative care,
and education, tutoring, and citizenship courses to hundreds of
residents/patients every year. Our du Lac Assisting Living is
looking for a Full-Time Director of Spiritual Care.
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the incumbent will
provide spiritual, religious and personal counseling and guidance
to all residents of Notre Dame du Lac, their families and staff.
The Spiritual Care Director will also Plan, develop, coordinate
and/or conduct daily religious services for residents, family
members, and staff of any faith. Maintain and submit reports of
pastoral activities as required. Plan and maintain a visitation
program for new residents and residents on medical leave. Review
pastoral care programs and services on an ongoing basis to assure
that spiritual objectives are being met. Participate in making
recommended changes to meet resident needs. Assume the authority,
responsibility and accountability for directing the religious
services at Notre Dame du Lac. Attend and participate in department
head meetings. Oversee a team of one or more Spiritual Care
Associates. Act as a resource to residents, families and staff on
ethical matters. Maintain a process of theological reflection,
accepting daily pastoral responsibilities when required. Develop
and maintain a good working rapport with personnel within and
outside of Notre Dame du Lac in order to assure that the religious
programs and activities can be properly maintained to meet the
needs of residents. Be available to work occasional weekends and
evenings as may be necessary. Other duties may apply.
Master's Degree is preferred with knowledge of specialized fields
of theology, liturgy, psychology, sociology, ecumenical orientation
and Catholic ethical guidelines. Bachelor's Degree is acceptable
with the specified knowledge and experience.
Two units in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) are required,
certification with NACC or ACPE or its equivalent is preferred.
Experience working with infirm elderly is needed as well as
excellent communication and counseling skills, patience, tact,
positive attitude, integrity, and cheerful enthusiasm.
