Job PurposeNational Grid is seeking an analyst for a position within the Substation Engineering & Design Department (SEDNE) at our Waltham, MA location. SEDNE designs, engineers and supports substation projects including new substations, retrofit of existing substations, substation asset replacement and substation operations & maintenance engineering.
This position will provide direct support to the team with principal duties revolving around managing various core team processes.
Key Accountabilities

  • Managing the work order (WO) progression process as partially executed by others. This includes work order initiation, cancellation review, inactivity review and closeout as well as ad-hoc information requests.
  • Managing SEDNE WO close-out contract resources.
  • Managing team portfolio of approximately 600 projects.
  • Managing team portfolio metrics including creating dashboards in MS Power BI as requested. This includes developing a new, optimized process that makes the best use of Bentley ProjectWise document control software which will be available in Fall 2022.
  • Developing and managing various work flows in MS SharePoint as requested.
  • Managing team continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Managing team relationship with Information Services, Plant Accounting, Resource Planning, Finance and other departments supporting SEDNE projects.
  • Managing various team SharePoint sites.
    Other Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
    • Supporting SEDNE Business Continuity Plan development and approval on a yearly basis.
    • Supporting SEDNE Health and Safety Plan development and approval on a yearly basis.
    • Various team reports as requested.
      • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, engineering or similar discipline with a minimum of 10 years relevant work experience or an Associate degree in finance, accounting, business, engineering or similar discipline with a minimum of 14 years relevant work experience. Work experience credit given for master's degrees and some professional licenses.
      • Strong leadership skills.
      • Ability to be a self- starter with strong organizational skills, detail oriented and open to new ideas of working that offer continuous improvement to the key performance indices of the department (on track completion of high-quality engineering deliverables).
      • Ability to research, compile, coordinate, schedule, review, document, organize and verify data and conduct independent analysis to identify inconsistencies.
      • Proven analytical skills and the ability to work independently or in groups to achieve objectives.
      • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally to the organization.
      • Proficient in MS suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) SAP, PowerPlan and query tools (i.e., SAP, MS Power BI, SQL). Familiarity with MS Teams and creating/maintaining MS SharePoint environments.
      • Knowledge of the National Grid plant accounting work order life cycle.
      • Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
