Position: Economic Mobility Initiatives Manager Contracted, 40 hours per week 1 year with possible extension The Community Builders, Inc. About Community Life Community Life (CL) is The Community Builders (TCB)'s place-based model that uses healthy and stable housing as a platform for connecting our residents to services, community resources and opportunities so they can thrive. By creating programs and building strategic partnerships with residents and local stakeholders, CL helps create pathways to opportunities in early education, economic mobility, youth development, community engagement, voting registration, healthy living, and resident leadership. Position Description: Reporting to the Community Life Senior Manager, the Economic Mobility Initiatives (EMI) Manager oversees the economic mobility programs and opportunities available at TCB's Worcester properties. The EMI Manager oversees the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and our new Rent Reporting for Credit Building (RRCB) program, collaborating with program coordinators, ensuring coordination between programs, and identifying new strategies and resources to engage residents. The EMI Manager also provides financial coaching, education, and support directly to TCB residents at five (5) Worcester properties in-person and through virtual platforms. The EMI Manager focuses on helping TCB residents reach financial goals in five core areas: income and employment, credit and debt, savings, utilization of quality financial services, and asset development. In addition, the EMI Manager will deliver financial literacy workshops on topics such as budgeting, debt management, and credit building. Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the Economic Mobility Initiatives Program including recruitment, coaching, and all administration of the program.
  • Ensure coordination between the three initiatives, FSS, VITA and RRCB, and identify new strategies and resources to engage residents
  • Build relationships with residents to better understand their needs and aspirations and connect them with local resources and opportunities.
  • Use of TCB's data collection system, CL Dynamics, to document services provided to residents and outcomes achieved.
  • Maintain positive relations with program partners including Esusu Financial, Credit Builders Alliance, and Compass Working Capital.
  • Work on creating a sustainability model that ensures the project goals continue to be met through activities that are consistent with available resources.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Bilingual verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish required
    • Ability to understand and respect values, attitudes, and beliefs that differ across cultures and to respond appropriately to these differences with residents in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services
    • Experience managing programs and grants
    • Ability to collect, track and understand data in order to assess programs and partnerships and inform strategies
    • Operate in a timely manner, with consistency and a high level of integrity and professionalism; provide excellent customer service to residents and partners
    • Excellent communication, organization and writing skills
    • Knowledge -of federal, state and local policies affecting housing is a plus. - Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings is required Education & Experience:
      • Minimum 3-year experience as a financial program coordinator or financial coach required
      • Bachelor's Degree preferred with a focus in finance, social work, human services, public health, community development, or related field.
      • Previous engagement, communication, and collaboration with people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
      • Proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and other computer programs
      • Experience with financial reporting requirements and daily activity database tracking
      • Practiced in financial program outreach, enrollment, and file management
      • Ability to coordinate and teach financial education workshops
      • Experience working with partners and site team members to implement programs and initiatives
      • Proficient in graphic design for creating written outreach materials a plus - Knowledge of Yardi, Property Management databases, or Dynamics is a plus.
