National certification in the chemical dependency nursing encouraged. CPR & AED certified.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: - - - - - Ability to manage and supervise staff, prioritize emergencies and respond appropriately, direct staff as needed to provide safe, efficient care, monitor other hospital services and assist administration as needed. Computer literacy - minimum of data entry skills.Experience: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Demonstrated experience as a charge nurse/nurse supervisor. Past supervisory experience in substance abuse or related field.Supervision: - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Receives indirect or occasional supervision. Works towards a definite objective using a variety of methods or procedures. Plans and arranges own work and only refers to the supervisor for unusual matters, such as policy interpretations. If in personal recovery, a minimum of three (3) years continuous abstinence required. Major Responsibilities: - - - - - - - - - - -

  • Manages the nursing department on assigned shift, ensuring adequate staffing on all units, supervising staff in provision of patient care, and assessing patient's needs for additional intervention when needed.
  • Represents hospital administration in their absence, collaborates with Clinician and Administrator on call relative to matters of clinical concern or emergency.
  • Responds to and directs staff in all codes and emergency situation - initiates restraints or administers emergency meds if needed.
  • Acts as a clinical role model for staff: teaches, orients and evaluates newly assigned staff.
  • Collaborates with admitting, case management, medicine and clinician on call in the assessment of patients presenting for admissions; performs face to face evaluations and recommends level of care.
  • Collaborates with other health care facilities, primarily physicians or therapists, managed care insurers to coordinate the admission of patients or secure additional care, if needed.
  • Is knowledgeable of all hospital policies and procedures and can direct others in their implementation.
  • Consistently arrives for work on time and adheres to attendance policies.
  • Treat patients, visitors and colleagues with dignity and respect; honors each person's right to privacy; maintains very strict patient and colleague confidentiality; respects all individuals differences; supports cultural diversity in our organization; and follows the core competencies of the Standard of Excellence.   • Prepares monthly staffing schedule for assigned staff and assists in obtaining additional staff for vacancies.
  • Attends nursing, management meetings and keeps other staff informed of changes revisions or development of new procedures or policies.
  • Serves on assigned committees and assists with continuous quality improvement monitoring through reports, statistics, and medical record reviews.
  • Supports hospital's position on EEO/Affirmative Action by making good faith effort to recruit, select, develop and retrain protected class employees.
  • Consistently monitors staff performance and documents performance problems including conducting Performance Management reviews.
  • Personnel Performance reviews, including competencies, are completed timely in accordance with HR P&P.
  • Ensures staff adherence to AdCare policies and procedures (including Dress Code, Smoking Policy, Time Card Procedures, Attendance, etc.)
  • Ensures that communication of departmental and hospital-wide information is defined clearly.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • At least two years of Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
