Job Description:
Section 1: Position SummaryThe Web Developer will be working on
a high-energy cross-functional team responsible for making sure the
client interface of our web applications works properly and
smoothly. This role will be required to interface with business and
IT scrum teams, providing guidance and technical knowledge and best
practices to support the development of the Ascensus Umbraco Cloud
digital ecosystem of public websites with a primary focus on
retirement growth initiatives.The role will ensure that platform,
along with all components and the overall application, is
responsive, robust, and easy to maintain by applying current best
practices in user interface development. The Web Developer will
coordinate with other marketing and IT teams to work on different
layers of the infrastructure. Key expectations of this role include
a commitment to understanding and keeping up to date on Umbraco
Cloud, complimentary technologies such as Umbraco Engage and
Umbraco Forms, collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design,
along with a curiosity about new digital technologies which aspire
to combine usability with visual design.Section 2: Job Functions,
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain web applications using Umbraco
CMS creating responsive websites per design guidelines and
information architecture optimizing application and integrating
with application business layer for maximum performance and
scalability.
- Collaborate with designers to ensure the translation of UI/UX
designs to web visuals.
- Implement robust features by writing clean, scalable, and
easily maintainable code.
- Address any issues related to the Umbraco backend and
database.
- Upgrade the Umbraco platform as necessary and ensure
compatibility with all plugins.
- Offer support for any front-end or CMS-related issues as well
as troubleshoot and resolve any back-end technical issues.
- Create estimates, assist with planning resources and tasks, and
tracking team progress throughout the software development life
cycle.
- Participate in software architectural and shaping discussions
to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, influencing
decisions, and collaborating with peers to maintain consistency
across the organization.
- Build reusable code and UI pattern libraries for use across
multiple applications.
- Establish and enforce the best practices and standards
including performance, accessibility, and cross-browser
compatibility.
- Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of
all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against
unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved
disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or
our clients.

- N/ASection 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in developing websites using
Umbraco CMS
- Umbraco Certified or equivalent experience
- Proficient in C# and .NET framework, essential for Umbraco
development
- Familiarity with Igloo template and MVC design patterns
- Deep understanding of web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and
JavaScript
- Experience with database design and integration for Umbraco
projects
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in version control tools, preferably Git
- Understanding of best practices for site performance and
optimization in Umbraco
- A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with
the latest Umbraco updates and features with an expert
understanding of web technologies and client-side scripting (HTML5,
CSS3, JavaScript)
- Expert understanding of UI unit testing requirements including
cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around
them.
- Strong Experience with at least one modern JS front-end
framework (ReactJS, KnockoutJS, AngularJS, Bootstrap)
- Strong Experience working with Services Oriented Architecture,
Web services, API Integration, and Restful Services
- Experience developing a reusable UI Component library
- Strong Experience writing clean and maintainable code using
engineering best practices (unit testing, continuous integration
and deployment, automation, design patterns, refactoring etc.)
- Experience working with other developers, test engineers, and
DevOps engineers to ensure smooth deployment and continual
operation in a CI/CD environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Collaborative team spirit with excellent communication
abilitiesFor all virtual remote positions, in order to ensure
