Research Associate/Scientist I opportunity at their Astellas
Institute for Regenerative Medicine (AIRM) site in Westborough, MA.
Purpose:We are seeking a Senior Research Associate/Scientist I
(level commensurate with experience/ qualifications) to participate
in discovery-based research of pluripotent stem cell-derived
pipeline products for indications in ophthalmology. The incumbent
will play an integral role working as part of the in vivo retina
team and interface with other members of Research and other
departments. Essential Job Responsibilities:Hands-on participation
in rodent in vivo ocular cell therapy transplantation studies
carrying out in vivo procedures as well as ex vivo analyses of
harvested tissues (e.g. retinas), either independently or alongside
other colleagues. This may involve any of the following laboratory
techniques: all aspects of surgery for subretinal or intravitreal
injections, fundus imaging, OCT, optomotor response (OMR/OKT),
electroretinogram (ERG), histological tissue harvest/processing,
immunohistochemistry, mouse behavioral studies, and ex vivo
multielectrode recordings.Assist with maintenance of mouse and rat
colonies, including timed breeding.Execute procedures and protocols
with guidance and have the ability to summarize results
independently.Collaborate closely and collegially within the team
and across functional groups to advance pipeline programs.Maintain
accurate records in laboratory notebooks, appropriate databases,
and inventories in a timely manner.Must be able to work flexible
hours, occasionally on weekends. Quantitative Dimensions:With
guidance, independently and efficiently perform laboratory
experiments to advance departmental pipeline programs.Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a
