Job Description:
SUMMARY: Smokestack Lightning is seeking to fill two full-time
LIGHTNING PROTECTION INSTALLER positions for first shift; 35-45
hrs./wk. to start; start time between 4 and 6 am with return to
office by 2-3:30pm, Monday to Friday (varies with weather and
scheduling); $20/hr.; NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED - WE WILL TRAIN.
Opportunity to grow into Project Manager position. We provide
vehicles, equipment, training/certification, and some clothing.
DUTIES: Installing lightning protection systems working safely on
rooftops and installing ground rods Drive to and from job sites
safely During 'off' weather days, clean up inventory, trucks and
shop, or train; also, during off weather or slow schedule times we
may have projects to complete at office/shop, maintenance
remodeling, painting, landscaping, etc. Study to become journeyman
installer (two 2-hour tests with passing grade required for
certification) May be lay-offs or shorter hours during winter
Months between February and March Position may expand to full-time
Installer/Project Manager with 35-50 hrs./wk. supervising new
installers and being responsible for a job from beginning to
completion; must pass Master Installer tests, have up to date
CPR/First Aid, Rope Rescue training, OSHA 30, and do L.S.A.
presentations to architects/engineers etc. Become Master
Designer/Installer through Lightning Protection Institute
estimating new projects, representing Smokestack Lightning, Inc to
customers; drawing buildings, auto cad/hand drawn; pricing
projects; finishing and distributing contracts; discussing
contracts and systems with customers New projects and creativity
are encouraged and will be considered Pay $20.00/hr. w/review after
two month trial period; pay increase will be provided upon
completion and passing of Journeyman Installers test; if working
greater than 30 hrs./wk. health and dental insurance 60/40
(company/employee) will be available after two month review; after
2 months 3% retirement match will be available Challenges: Some
overnights required 10-20/year (all expenses paid), work is
physically strenuous and can involve working in awkward,
uncomfortable areas (attics/crawlspaces/rooftops), and digging for
ground rods and occasional trenching necessary. Hours may be
limited by bad weather. REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma/GED Min.
age 18 0 experience - will train Valid Driver License and good
driving record Must be honest and courteous with customers Must be
comfortable and safe working outdoors on roofs and ladders Must be
in good physical shape Musts be a self-starter Must be able to pass
random drug tests Must work well with other employees Must be
willing and able to learn, (including OSHA 10/30 training course)
within 1 month; Journeyman Installer test #1 and #2 after 1 year
OSHA Certification preferred Must not be afraid of heights Must be
teachable and responsible Must be able to pass CORI check, drug
test, physical
